Both models give you the exact same Omnira app experience — real-time status, remote open/close, activity history, and multi-user access. The difference is purely in how each one talks to your garage motor.

Garage Guardian Air is the plug-and-play option. It works by pairing directly with your existing remote for supported brands — Merlin, B&D, ATA, Gliderol, Grifco, and Steel-Line — so there's no wiring at all: plug in the hub, attach the door sensor, and you're connected. Use our compatibility checker to confirm your exact motor or remote is supported.

Garage Guardian Link is the universal option. If your motor isn't on the Air-compatible list — including older fixed-code or "billion code" systems — Link works with virtually any garage motor by wiring directly into its starter terminal. It's a short, straightforward install (no electrician needed), and once it's connected you get the identical app experience as Air.

Yes — your existing remote continues to work exactly as it always has. Garage Guardian doesn't replace your remote; it adds to it. You can use your remote and the Omnira app simultaneously. Even when someone opens or closes the garage with the physical remote, the app detects it and updates in real time so you always know the current status.

The app will alert you as soon as a Wi-Fi disconnection is detected. You also have the option to configure Garage Guardian to automatically close your garage door if connectivity is lost — giving you peace of mind that your home stays secure even when your network goes down.

Yes — a full activity log is available in the app at all times. Every open, close, and alert is recorded with a timestamp and the user who triggered it. Whether it was you, a family member, or the auto-close feature, you have a complete and transparent record of everything that has happened.

The connection between the hub and your garage door operates over an encrypted Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) signal. This means the communication between your Garage Guardian hardware and the app is secured end-to-end, giving you complete confidence that your garage cannot be accessed or intercepted by outside parties.

Voice assistant support — Google Home, Amazon Alexa, and Apple Siri — is coming soon. We're actively working on smart home integrations so you can control your garage as part of your wider setup. In the meantime, the Omnira app gives you full control from your phone, and these integrations will roll out automatically to all Garage Guardian users at no extra cost once available.

Currently, each hub supports one garage door. We know multi-door support is something many homeowners want, and we're already working on it — expanded multi-door capability is planned for a future software update. When it arrives, it will be available automatically to all existing Garage Guardian users at no extra cost.
