Garage Guardian Air is the plug-and-play option. It works by pairing directly with your existing remote for supported brands — Merlin, B&D, ATA, Gliderol, Grifco, and Steel-Line — so there's no wiring at all: plug in the hub, attach the door sensor, and you're connected. Garage Guardian Link is the universal option. If your motor isn't on the Air-compatible list — including older fixed-code or "billion code" systems — Link works with virtually any garage motor by wiring directly into its starter terminal. It's a short, straightforward install (no electrician needed), and once it's connected you get the identical app experience as Air.

Your home security and personal data are our top priorities. All data processed through Garage Guardian and the Omnira app is handled securely and never shared with unauthorised third parties.

Payments never touch our servers. At checkout you're taken to Stripe's own secure payment page to enter your card details — the same payment infrastructure used by major retailers worldwide. We never see, handle, or store your card number.

Nothing is publicly reachable. Our database has no public access point — it can only be read by our own server, not queried directly by anyone else.

Photos aren't kept. If you use our AI tool to identify your remote from a photo, that photo is analysed in the moment and then discarded — it's never saved to disk or a database.

We take the protection of your information as seriously as the protection of your home.

You're required to confirm the area is clear before closing remotely. Garage Guardian lets you close your garage from anywhere — but unlike standing in front of it, you can't see what's underneath before it comes down. Before you can close the door remotely, you'll confirm you have a way to verify the space is clear: a camera covering the doorway, a motion sensor, or simply checking in person first. This isn't optional — it's a condition of use, and it exists to keep people and pets safe. See our Terms of Service for full details.

Yes — a full activity log is available in the app at all times. Every open, close, and alert is recorded with a timestamp and the user who triggered it. Whether it was you, a family member, or the auto-close feature, you have a complete and transparent record of everything that has happened.

You can set custom armed hours — for example 1am to 6am — during which Garage Guardian keeps watch overnight. If your garage opens during those hours without being triggered from the app, it can sound an alarm to let you know something's wrong. The hardware alarm on the hub can be turned on or off anytime from the app, so it's entirely up to you whether it sounds from the hub, as a loud alert on your phone, both, or neither — the choice is yours.

The door sensor is battery-powered, using a standard CR2032 coin battery — the same round, flat battery used in most car key fobs and modern remotes. It's inexpensive and available at any supermarket, servo, or hardware store, so replacing it when the time comes takes seconds.

Garage Guardian uses two encrypted connections: the hub talks to the door sensor over encrypted Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), and the hub connects to the Garage Guardian cloud over your home Wi-Fi using encrypted HTTPS. This means communication between your Garage Guardian hardware and the app is secured end-to-end, giving you complete confidence that your garage cannot be accessed or intercepted by outside parties.

Every Garage Guardian comes with a standard 1-year warranty. If anything goes wrong with your hardware within the first year, we'll take care of it. For warranty claims or support enquiries, contact our team and we'll get back to you promptly.

If Garage Guardian doesn't connect to your specific garage door or motor, contact us before returning anything. In almost every case we can identify the correct model for your setup and send it out at no charge — a refund only applies in the rare case that no Garage Guardian model is compatible with your garage.
